Newbie: Jury work and teaching video workshop
16/08/10
Later this year I will be teaching a class of press photographers on a 3 day hands-on workshop in Copenhagen. It will focus on storytelling and the best use of HD video with DSLR. First teaching job for me. And finally I got an unexpected call to step up as a jury member of next year's Danish POY - multimedia categories. What an honor. Two new rewarding experiences I'm sure.
Danish POY: First prizes

tv-photographer of the year
The video short story 'A Life in The Ruins' is part a Georgian story on sea erosion. For this work I was awarded 'Tv-photographer of the year/News'
by the Danish Picture of The Year. I was stunned. For someone as me who regards his special skills in stillphotography nowadays, it is a very honorable title. From stage I dedicated the prize to Mr. Casper Thorsøe. Casper is the person who believed in me sixteen years ago, when I had no skills and all I could say is that I wanted to make films.

My part in building the climate website Face The Climate resulted in another first prize 'Multimedia site of the Year'. My work on the consequences of climate change for nine families in DR Congo, China, Syria and Georgia was a partnership with my collaborator and friend Anders Birch. Together with our team of dedicated climate reporters we attended the awards ceremony held at the Royal Library in Copenhagen.

POYi: 3rd place Natural/Science Single
22/02/10

Last night the photo jury of POYi in Missouri, USA awarded a single image from the photo story 'GPS Warriors' third place in Natural/Science Single category. It's the first award for the group project photographer Anders Birch and I finished last year for facetheclimate.org and the timing couldn't be better.

We are fundraising our next collaboration together with journalists Rasmus Thirup Beck, Hakon Mosbech and production leader Ditte Størner. 'Green Heroes' is the working title for new and exciting multimedia content on current solutions to climate change (like the fellas in the picture) and this time the message is going out worldwide. That's right you heard it here first.

Norwegian Magazine Innsikt ran a double spread for my text and photo story about the human consequences of the Icelandic bankruptcy.
It's a background piece leading up to this week's Icesave-referendum. Gallup survey shows that a loud NO will be heard across the North Atlantic Ocean on Saturday.

Welcome to my website that is setting sail for the world, today on March 4th 2010.
Out of sight

Today I had my red eye checked by an eye specialist and I'm relieved that to know that it will turn back to its milky white condition. The turn off is for the next ten days I'll be looking like pirate. This pirate happens to be a photographer who is nominated for the Danish Picture of The Year which is given out this Friday at a ceremony at the Royal Library in Copenhagen.
Ever seen a pirate in a tux?
